 Houseparents play a key role in Milton Hershey School's (MHS) students' lives. Together with their spouses, houseparents are caregivers and role models. They nurture a family-like atmosphere in a School home and provide quality one-on-one and group time with the children to help each one find their promise.

We require a strong commitment to children. Experience working with diverse children and youth, especially coming from challenged settings, would be an asset. Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of children from need?

Free of charge, Milton Hershey School, located in Hershey, PA, provides the advantages of a positive, structured home life and an outstanding pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade education.
SALARY AND BENEFITS

Beyond the satisfaction of making a positive contribution to the development of children, houseparents will receive:

  • A total compensation package, including a combined salary of $65,000, rent-free apartment, meals and utilities.
  • A comprehensive benefits package.
  • Certified Houseparent training program.
  • Relocation assistance.
  • Use of athletic facilities.
HOUSEPARENT REQUIREMENTS

Our requirements ensure that we provide the best support for their growth:

  • High school graduates or college education.
  • Couple must be legally married, at least 3 years, and each person must be at least 27 years of age at time of employment.
  • No more than two dependent children in residence.
  • Prior experience working with children and youth (preferably children and youth from poverty or similar challenged settings).
  • Ability to successfully complete extensive clearance process.
  • Ability to meet health and physical requirements of the position.
  • Driving records and credit history in good standing.
